Duke Merrick- Guitars, Harmonicas, Lead Vocals
Duke began his musical odyssey at the tender age of ten when he set up a make-believe recording studio
and began entertaining his family. By twelve he had formed his first real band. He made his first journey
to Nashville as a student at Vanderbilt University where he hit the
books by day and the honky-tonks by night. It was during this time
that Duke began to learn the craft of songwriting and forged some of
his closest music industry ties. After his time at Vanderbilt he
considered a business career in the record industry on Music Row.
He learned however that it was the creative and performance side of
music that he loved and he returned to his family farm in Gordonsville
to write, perform and tend to the family business. Nashville did lure
Duke back produce an album some years later with his great friends:
producer Glen Rieuf and singer/songwriter Pat McLaughlin. Cuts
from Duke’s Burning Memories album were picked up by artists like
Joy White, Joe Sun, Jo-El Sonnier and Steve Wariner. Duke has
continued to manage his family farm as well as his own farm and Real
Estate business, both of which he shares with his wife Sharon in
Gordonsville. He has continued to hone his songwriting skills and
kept his band together touring regionally with an occasional “special”
tour around the United States and abroad.

Virginia. Since then, he has worked with various groups around Virginia and including the Terri
Allard Band (of which he is still a member). Jim and his wife Paula have two sons each of whom
